Area 3 (‘Society’): Improve on-farm practices to enhance consumer acceptability and address societal challenges associated with animal welfare, product quality and safety, biodiversity and provision of ecosystem services
Researchers in our University of Applied Sciences conduct research in all areas relevant for SuSan: Economy, Environment and Society, hence we are interested in all 3 areas of SuSan (Improve the productivity, resilience and competitiveness in European animal production; Improve and manage ressource use to reduce waste and enhance the environmental sustainability of European animal production; Improve on-farm practices to enhance consumer acceptability). We are highly interested in participating in consortia where we can offer our expertise. Our department of agriculture and food economy e.g. deals with the primary production of food of plant and animal origin, economic issues in specific areas of production and the agriculture sector as a whole, as well as issues in agriculture-related sectors.

All Departments collaborate closely with one another, and we are continuing to expand our collaboration with other universities of applied sciences both in Germany and abroad. As a partner to business and industry, we focus on applied research and deliver results with practical relevance in collaboration with them.
One of our research focuses is Land Use and Food: The entire food production supply chain, from raw material production to the end user. Focuses: Animal and plant production, organic farming, agroecology, food biotechnology, food ingredients, brewing and beverage technology, marketing and consumer research.
