Area 1 (‘Economy’): Improve the productivity, resilience and competitiveness of European Animal Production
ADAS is a large, UK-based consultancy with specialists in ruminant and non-ruminant animal production (cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry) and throughout the agricultural sector. Our expertise also extends to environmental issues such as soils, water and the atmosphere. In this Call, our interest would be in all three research areas, possibly working alongside an academic partner who would be the leader of a consortium.
ADAS provides a wide range of technical and business inputs at farm level and our clients for livestock consultancy include government departments and agencies, commercial companies and farming industry bodies. We have involvement in research projects and technical studies both within and outside the UK, frequently working as part of a consortium. Our key attributes are technical livestock knowledge, our reputation throughout the UK livestock sector and our ability to recruit and work with a wide range of different stakeholders including individual farmers and others in the supply chain.
ADAS Group is the UK’s largest independent agricultural and environmental consultancy and provider of rural development and policy advice aimed at the two major issues of our time; securing food supply and enhancing the environment. Providing rural development, policy advice, consultancy and contracting services to a wide range of organisations in both the private and public sectors. ADAS’s work ranges from specific advice through strategic advice, policy advice and applied R&D to applied/strategic R&D.
Our expertise is based on evidence, underpinned by science, with its core disciplines focused on balancing profitable production with minimum environmental impact, reducing waste, water and energy use to ensure future sustainability.
ADAS Group has over 500 staff covering more than 60 specialisms, operating from a network of offices and research sites in England and Wales.
