Area 1 (‘Economy’): Improve the productivity, resilience and competitiveness of European Animal Production
We look for bull semen to evaluate their performance in the hard environmental conditions. Bull’s progeny test has been done in their own environmental conditions in the world. Bull semen values are determined according to these results. When environmental conditions change the best bulls mayn’t show same conditions. Thus obtained calves may not reach expected performance. The aim of this study is to determine the best performance of beef bulls for meeting semen demand of small scale cattle enterprises in the hard environmental conditions. The cows’ growth in the enterprises will be artificially inseminated with registered beef bulls. Born calves from these cows will be registered and measured in different ages so their adaptability, survival, growth characteristics etc. will be assessed. The performances of bulls will be compared and then the best bulls will be chosen in the hard environmental conditions.
