Area 1 (‘Economy’): Improve the productivity, resilience and competitiveness of European Animal Production
To cooperate with a multi-disciplinary group interested in using oats (and barley) as feed source characterized by peculiar qualitative, agronomic and adaptive traits , improving sustainability and resilience of animal production chains. At CREA-GPG two wide collections of oats and barley germplam are conserved and extensive phenotyping ang genotyping data are available to identify loci and markers useful for animal feed.
The Genomics Research Centre of Fiorenzuola d'Arda is part of the Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l'analisi dell'economia agraria (CREA), which operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. The Centre holds expertise in the fields of plant genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics.
The research activities aim at widening the understanding of the structure and function of genes and their products, genetically improving crop species, and increasing food quality, safety and security, all within a general frame of agricultural sustainability and of product and process innovation.
